Job Overview
The Account Director will nurture and grow key relationships (mostly large FMGC conglomerates) for the business in Europe. They will also support and manage a team of up to four Account Managers and Account Associates at differing levels of experience, each with a portfolio of their own accounts (from small to large key accounts).
Through their team, they will be ultimately responsible for a portfolio of around 60 accounts.
Reporting to the Head of Brand Partnerships.
The main focus of this role is to develop, nurture and grow a number of key relationships, strategize on building long-term relationships and how to drive revenue growth through budget/relationship expansions, cross-selling and upselling within these relationships and their team’s portfolio.
They will work closely with the Head of Brand Partnerships on KPIS set by senior leadership in their team and provide internal reporting to the head of BP. They will be responsible for forecasting and driving revenue growths for their team. They will also be the main point of contact for their team’s key relationships in Europe and will represent TC Europe on Top-to-Top relationship building for key accounts and conglomerates and support in preparing and running these meetings.
They will set strategies and KPIs for and with their team members, supervise, and advise their team members on short and long-term priorities and strategies for their portfolio of clients. They will also be responsible for supervising the line-reports performance and to develop the line-reports skills and knowledge to grow in their role and manage their portfolio independently. They will be responsible to support their team members to drive KPIs and grow positive client relationships and revenue for their team’s accounts.
Recurring tasks include but are not limited to:
- Serving as primary senior contact for a portfolio of key conglomerates in Europe internally and externally
- Developing, nurturing and growing mid-level management relationships for key clients in Europe
- Supporting Senior Leadership with updates and strategies for Top to Top engagement on their client portfolio and representing TC Europe in these conversations
- Developing strategies for continued revenue growth, renewal and long-term relationships for key clients + driving revenue growth in their team’s portfolio: maximizing collection revenue and creating cross and upsell opportunities with key clients
- Developing strategies and proposals to answer client needs in the fast-developing recycling and circular economy sector
- Develop KPIs, Upsell and cross strategies for your team members’ portfolio, drive revenue growth within your team, and track and review success on a regular basis
- Support team members in the management of their accounts and join/lead important client calls (e. g. large renewals, key strategic meetings for growth opportunities)
- Provide support and training for team members if and when needed to ensure they can handle their accounts mostly independently.
- Support team members in their skill and career development and provide necessary coaching where needed
- Give regular and ad hoc advice on sensitive or difficult situations & support team members with difficult client conversations, acting as trouble shooter and crisis manager whenever needed.
- Being responsible for and reporting on P&L performance from their team’s portfolio.
- Being responsible for the profitability of each partnership within their team’s portfolio, ensuring pricing and fees are appropriate.
Skills/ Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in an Account Management/ Relationship Management role in a fast-paced environment.
- Marketing strategy experience in brand or in a design, creative or media agency.
- Good relationship builder with excellent interpersonal and listening skills
- Avid and clear communicator with the ability to simplify and present complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner
- Great presentation, influencing and negotiation skills
- Experience in an agency or FMCG environment would be an advantage
- Solid sales experience and keen eye for opportunities
- Ability to think analytically and strategically
- Strong Business Acumen, solid grasp of financial planning and analysis and excellent number literacy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise among competing tasks
- At least 2 years experience in coaching and developing junior team members and leading the success of a team
- Good all-rounder on Microsoft Office programmes (Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
