In January 2019, TerraCycle announced its newest initiative, Loop, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers, and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging, washed by Loop and refilled by the brands. Loop has engaged many of the world's largest consumer product companies (including P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Mondēlez) and many of the world’s largest retailers in this platform. Loop went live in May 2019 in two major markets, one in Europe (Paris) and one in the US (NY,NJ, PA). In July 2020, Loop launched in the UK in partnership with Tesco while announcing plans to expand to Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Job Overview

We are looking to hire a Senior Management Accountant to lead our finance team in Europe during our exciting period of growth. The Senior Management Accountant role will be responsible for all aspects of accounting for 11 different EU countries and the development and management of their team.

The successful candidate will be aligned with our mission to eliminate the idea of waste, as part of a team where they can make a real impact, work with all aspects of accounting, within a fast-moving and rapidly expanding business dealing with multiple countries.

This role will report to the Head of Finance for Europe and will be based in Perivale, our West London Office.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage 3 direct reports, develop the team, provide support, guidance, and relevant training as required
  • Attend Business Development Internal Transition meetings, ensuring you understand all-new programs and that we have all the appropriate documentation for every deal including the new customer forms and signed contracts
  • Review of Month End, working in collaboration with the team to ensure all Balance sheet accounts are reconciled and reviewed, with any variances on the P&L looked into and dealt with.
  • VAT Reconciliation and returns submission
  • Manage and process payroll, including all tax and pension related tasks.
  • Direct liaison with external Accountants
  • Assist with Year-end Accounts and Audit related tasks
  • Spearhead finance related process improvement within the finance team and with the wider team
  • Act as a trusted Business Partner to other departments outside the finance team
  • Take a lead and support with projects as required
  • Payment review and approvals
  • Other ad-hoc duties

The ideal candidate will be:

  • a natural leader of people with exceptional people skills including oral and written communication, collaboration, clarity, empathy, and the ability to lead and inspire their team
  • experienced within a similar role, demonstrating coaching and developing a team capabilities
  • proactive in all situations, adaptable to the business needs, deadline-driven, and a team player
  • Keen to take on a challenging role and will be able to demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to build solutions and make improvements to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Foreign currency and intercompany within a group structure is a must
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues and external contacts at all levels
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential for this role
  • In-depth SAP experience is a must
  • Be keen to take on a challenging role and make improvements
