In January 2019, TerraCycle announced its newest initiative, Loop, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers, and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging, washed by Loop and refilled by the brands. Loop has engaged many of the world's largest consumer product companies (including P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Mondēlez) and many of the world’s largest retailers in this platform. Loop went live in May 2019 in two major markets, one in Europe (Paris) and one in the US (NY,NJ, PA). In July 2020, Loop launched in the UK in partnership with Tesco while announcing plans to expand to Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Job Overview

We are looking to hire an experienced Head of Operations to lead our tactical operations team in Europe as we scale during our exciting period of growth. The Head of Operations role will be responsible for TerraCycle Europe’s operations and supply chain, leading the Operations team, priorities, responsible for a smooth operation and high service quality. The successful candidate will be accountable for his/her region’s COGS performance.

This role will report to VP, Global Operations, and General Manager for Europe and will be based in Perivale, our West London Office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the European tactical Operations team
  • Ensure business continuity at all times, while driving productivity and a high-performance culture
  • Support and communicate with Business stakeholders and service departments to align priorities, support sales growth and customer retention
  • Manage Operations for the region, including:
    • Waste handling, storage, inventory, reporting
    • Waste transportation (parcels and freight)
    • Supplies procurement and production
    • Fulfillment Operations
    • Operational vendor sourcing and management
    • Recycled/ upcycled product manufacturing
  • Lead and manage the network of third-party Operational vendors and manufacturers
  • Lead and coordinate Operations with the material solutions team and downstream recycling supply chain and support management of the Material solutions teams
  • Evaluate current operational performance and provide plans for continuous improvements
  • Manage and control the Operations budget and ensure profit margins are maintained
  • Implement Operations standards
  • Ensure internal and external quality and compliance standards are met throughout the supply chain
  • Manage Terracycle offices and H&S policies.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills to support the team, support their growth and drive changes
  • Answer questions related to TerraCycle’s unique supply chain and act as a support department to achieve the Business’ goals.

  • Knowledge and network in the waste and supply chain industry

  • Can-do attitude, works well with constant challenges, and strong innovative spirit
  • Ability and willingness to travel from time to time in Europe
  • Fluency in English is mandatory and a second European language ideally French is desirable.
